Hymn for the Damned was written in late 2024 as an acknowledgement of the way that society is leaving behind its youngest children, Generation Alpha. As the whole world shut down during the Coronavirus pandemic, the youth of America were suddenly and severely stunted in their growth. These kids, who are now entering secondary school, lack the social and critical thinking skills that are to be expected of their age group. Simultaneously, their siblings in Generation Z are enticed daily to fall victim to drugs, alcohol, and promiscuity. These children and young adults have certainly been "damned" and set up to fail, so this work aims to both highlight these injustices while still providing hope for our children's futures.
